We cannot speak highly enough of our stay at Kahikatea Retreat. The owners, could not have been more generous guests and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was amazing. They greeted us when we arrived and showed us around the beautiful farm the property is on. They left all sorts of goodies in the kitchen - cheese, local wine, the basics and much more. The house is small but delightful and the views are amazing. If you’re looking for an idyllic escape away from it all, we cannot recommend it highly enough.

Loved my stay, Gay was an an amazing host, had beautiful touches and gestures for me and my fur babies. The farm cottage is perfect for relaxation, getting back to nature, exploring Akaroa and romantic get always. Would love to revisit, and already recommended to friends and family. Thank you very much.

Wow what an incredible property! This is the definition of a retreat- the most beautiful scenic and private oasis tucked in amongst native trees and bird song... what more could you ask for. We are from New Zealand and we truly were amazed, it is the best place I have ever stayed and it's quite hard to compare it to anything around the country!! We were in heaven! The hosts Gay & Ian have made the place a home, they are incredibly generous and kind, even leaving some treats for our dog! We all felt so spoilt & looked after yet given lots of privacy to relax. We were blown away with everything. Everything you need is here! Thank you for a much needed and incredible escape, we will certainly be back!!!!!!

We came to Kahikatea Retreat for a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of daily life, and came away feeling relaxed, refreshed and incredibly grateful. Gay and Ian have created an welcoming environment that has the comfort of a farm-style cottage with a truly luxurious ambience. We were most taken by the peace and tranquility. Surrounded by native trees and rolling farmland, with magnificent views to Wainui Bay and the Akaroa heads, all you can hear is the gentle sounds of native birds and the nearby steam. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay and the gas fire took the edge off the Autumn chill at night. Beautifully furnished with a touch of romance, we loved every minute (as did our fur baby who came with us) Perfect!
